Welcome Friends

The Health Cluster of COLED is a group and community of Medical, Public Health, Health Science, Pharmaceutical, and Healthcare Administration Professionals in the Diaspora with both birth and cultural ties to Liberia. Our mission is to work with the Liberian Government and People to help address some of the myriads of health issues facing Liberia. This Cluster is not meant to replace, displace, or compete with the National Health System. We can provide skills in Medicine, Health Sciences, Dentistry, Nursing, Public Heath, and Health Services Administration which we believe will benefit Liberia.

This professional group is apolitical and is not affiliated with any political party. We anticipate augmentation of our Cluster community as our work becomes increasingly expansive. Our purpose is to inform readers to our site about Cluster activities and to extend an open invitation to join our cluster membership as we address workable approaches to counter healthcare challenges unique to Liberia. Notably, challenges endemic to Liberia’s Health care sector are familiar, ranging from recurrent chronic shortages of supplies and the inadequacy of qualified personnel for care delivery. Additionally making the task of healthcare delivery more difficult is the inability to clearly communicate with the Liberian population.

Messages about vaccines and routine medical checkups should be integral parts of healthcare delivery. It is also necessary to emphasize to the public that seeking professional health care should not be a matter of last resort. There is not inherent contradiction in taking one’s relative to the hospital (as soon as possible) and then letting the pastor or imam visit the patient and offering prayers. Both are compatible and encouraged. We remain at the service of the Government and the People of Liberia should our services be deemed necessary. Our overarching goal is to serve all Liberians in whatever meaningful way we can to promote healthcare services in the country, from coast to coast.
